Penumbra is headquartered in a large, badly heated room near Père-Lachaise, with a standing crew of six across Paris and Lisbon — one team from the first mood board to the final graded master.

(03) How it runs

Four steps.
No mystery.

Brief

A ninety-minute call and a shared folder. We come back with what we think you actually need to shoot, which is often not the list you sent.

Week 1

(02)

Direction

Reference boards, a lighting plan, a shot list priced to the frame. You approve the look before a single light stand leaves the wall.

Week 2

(03)

Shoot

One to three days in our room in the 11th, or on location. Tethered, art-directed, reviewed as we go. You are welcome to sit in.

Week 3

(04)

Delivery

Selects in 48 hours, graded masters in ten days, cut to every crop and format your channels need. Raws archived for three years.

Week 4

(04) The studio

A photograph earns nothing
by being correct.

Penumbra is six people and one large, badly heated room near Père-Lachaise. We started in 2019 shooting lookbooks for a friend's label and never quite found a reason to grow past the size where everyone still touches the work.

We light hard. We print contact sheets. We would rather deliver forty frames you will genuinely use than four hundred you have to wade through. Half our clients came from the other half.
